Lane Closure Report for August 30 - September 5

• On FM 1541 (Washington Street), expect lane closures in both directions from 46th Street to I-27 for patching.
• On I-40, expect lane closures in both directions from Arnot Road to Atkinson Road for patching.
• On West Loop 335 (Soncy), traffic is down to one lane in each direction from 45th Street to just past Hillside for construction. 
• On Grand Street, the northbound lanes on the east side of the roadway are closed for construction of the new overpass. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction on the two west-side lanes from about 1/2 mile south of 3rd Street to about 1/2 mile north of 3rd Street. This lane closure will be in effect until the project ends by March 2012.
• Mowing operations are underway in various locations around the Amarillo area. Please be aware of mowers breifly entering the roadway from grassy areas and medians.

Grand Street Overpass project begins

On Monday, August 2, the 3rd and Grand Street intersection will become a four-way controlled intersection with stop signs in each direction. On Tuesday, August 3, the northbound lanes on the east side of Grand Street will be closed from about 1/2 mile south of 3rd Street to about 1/2 mile north of 3rd Street. Northbound traffic will be diverted to the two lanes on the west side of Grand Street, and traffic will be one-lane in each direction throughout the remainder of the project.

Motorists will exoerience periodic delays once the project is underway, and may want to consider an alternate route, especially during peak-traffic times during Amarillo Dillas baseball games, the Tri-State Fair, and high school football games at Dick Bivens Field.

The project is expected to be completed by March 2012. Motorists are asked to drive carefully and pay close attention to changing traffic conditions in work zones.

SW Loop 335 improvement begins June 14

Phase one of a project to improve SW Loop 335(Soncy) will get underway Monday, June 14 (weather permitting). Workers will close one lane in each direction on SW Loop 335 from 45th Street to about thirteen-hundred feet south of Hillside Street. The lanes are expected to remain closed through mid-August. Turning lanes and access to businesses will be provided.

This is the first phase of a project to widen SW Loop 335 by adding a center turn lane from 45th Street to 81st Street, and improving the alignment of the intersection at SW Loop 335 and FM 2590. The entire project is ecpected to be completed no later than June 2011 (weather permitting).

Motorists are asked to drive carefully and pay close attention to changing traffic conditions in work zones.
