RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES | Type Of Recruitment Initiative (Menu Selection) | Brief Description Of Activity | 1 | Participate in Job Fair | On April 14, 2009, the stations participated in the Amarillo Job Fair held at the Civic Center in Amarillo, Texas. We set up a booth at the career fair, where station participants distributed station and job information, accepted job applications, and spoke with attendees about career opportunities in broadcasting. Our stations also promoted the event on-air. Station participants included our Sales Manager and seven of our Account Executives. | 2 | Participate in Job Fair | On October 10, 2009, the stations participated in the Amarillo Job Fair held at the Civic Center in Amarillo, Texas. We set up a booth at the career fair, where station participants distributed station and job information, accepted job applications, and spoke with attendees about career opportunities in broadcasting. Our stations also promoted the event on-air. Station participants included our Sales Manager and seven of our Account Executives. | 3 | Participate in Programs Sponsored by Educational Institutions Relating to Career Opportunities in Broadcasting (6) | Throughout the reporting period, local schools requested that their students be allowed to “shadow” employees at our radio stations. a) On April 17, 2009, a student from West Texas A&M University shadowed our General Manager. b) On May 21, 2009, several students from Travis Middle School shadowed our Promotions Director, News Staff and On-Air Staff. c) From September 15, 2009 through March 31, 2010, a student from Canyon High School shadowed our Sports Director two days a week as part of their job mentor program. d) On December 18, 2009, several students from Austin Middle School shadowed our Promotions Director, News Staff and On-Air Staff. e) On January 11, 2010, one student from Bushland High School shadowed our AM Program Director. f) On January 13, 2010, several students from Westover Junior High School shadowed our News Staff and On-Air Staff. |
4 | Participate in Events Sponsored by or on Behalf of Educational Institutions Relating to Career Opportunities in Broadcasting (9) | a) On April 14, 2009, one of our Account Executives spoke to a Radio Production class at Amarillo College about his experiences working in radio broadcasting. b) On September 15, 2009, our Account Executive spoke with executives at a United Way event about station operations, how the stations serve the community, and the need for community participation in station activities. c) On September 29, 2009, our Account Executive spoke to representatives from the Texas Panhandle Builders Association. She discussed the stations’ operations and invited anyone interested in learning more about broadcasting careers to speak with him after the event. d) On November 5, 2009, we participated in the Teachers and Students Touring Business Day sponsored by Xcel Energy, Amarillo Independent School District, and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. Participating teachers and middle and high school students toured the stations and learned first-hand about the radio business. e) On October 21, 2009, we participated in an open forum for a broadcast museum opening where we invited students in attendance to tour the stations and learned first-hand about the radio business. f) On January 5, 2010, our General Manager spoke with members of the local Ambucks. He discussed the stations’ operations and invited anyone interested in learning more about broadcasting careers to speak with him after the event. g) On January 26, 2010, our General Manager gave a tour and spoke to community focus groups. He discussed the stations’ operations and how we serve the community and invited anyone interested in learning more about broadcasting careers to speak with him after the event. h) In January 26, 2010, General Manager and an Account Executive were guest lecturers in a Media Sales & Planning course at West Texas A&M University, speaking to students about the broadcasting industry. i) On March 5, 2010, our General Manager spoke to students and members of the community at a breakfast sponsored by the American Red Cross. He discussed the stations’ operations and invited anyone interested in learning more about broadcasting careers to speak with him after the event. |
