A major fiery auto wreck on I-40 Friday killed two people.

Department of Public Safety Sergeant Cindy Barkley says three semis’ and a car were involved, in the wreck near Adrian.

She says it appears the car was traveling next to one of the semis, and the semi went into the median and then into the eastbound lanes, taking the car with it.

That’s when the semi and the car, smashed into the two other trucks.

Barkley says that’s when some of the cars caught fire but at this point, it’s unknown which ones.

Sgt Barkley says the two people killed were in the semis, and one passenger from the car was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital by helicopter and one by ambulance.

Both east and westbound lanes of I-40 were re-opened at 7;10 p.m. Friday night.
